1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Pilot Pathway Careers ("Pilot Pathway", "we", "us", "our" or the "Platform").

Pilot Pathway is an aviation professional networking and career platform designed to help aviation professionals create professional profiles, discover career opportunities and, where enabled by the Member, make relevant professional information discoverable by authorised airlines, aviation employers, recruiters and other aviation organisations.

Pilot Pathway facilitates professional discovery and connection. Pilot Pathway does not itself act as an employer, make hiring decisions or guarantee employment.

By creating an account, creating a professional profile, accessing the Platform or using any Pilot Pathway service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not create or use an account or professional profile.

These Terms should be read together with the Pilot Pathway Privacy Notice, Cookie Policy, PAIA Manual and any other policies expressly incorporated into these Terms.

2. Platform Operator

Pilot Pathway is operated by PilotApps. For all operator, privacy and general enquiries, please use the Contact Us form on this page.

3. Minimum Age

Pilot Pathway professional profiles are intended exclusively for persons aged 18 years or older. You must be at least 18 years old to:

  • create a professional profile
  • maintain a professional profile
  • make your professional profile discoverable by recruiters
  • use professional networking and career functionality
  • use the Platform as a Member

Pilot Pathway may request your date of birth or other reasonable information to verify the minimum age requirement. Your full date of birth will not ordinarily be displayed to recruiters merely because you provide it. If a person under 18 is discovered to have created a profile, Pilot Pathway may restrict or terminate the account and take appropriate steps regarding their Personal Information.

4. Nature of Pilot Pathway

Pilot Pathway provides technology and services intended to facilitate aviation professional networking, career discovery and professional connections. Employers and recruiters may use the Platform to discover professional profiles and contact Members where the relevant visibility settings permit such access.

Pilot Pathway:

  • does not employ Members
  • does not select candidates on behalf of employers
  • does not make hiring decisions
  • does not guarantee interviews
  • does not guarantee employment
  • does not guarantee career progression
  • does not guarantee salary or remuneration
  • does not guarantee visa sponsorship
  • does not guarantee licensing acceptance
  • does not guarantee medical acceptance
  • does not guarantee work authorisation

Pilot Pathway is not, unless expressly stated otherwise: an airline; an aircraft operator; an employer; an aviation licensing authority; an aviation medical authority; a regulator; an employment agency; a recruitment agency; an employment intermediary; or a representative of any airline or aviation employer.

5. No Guarantee of Employment

Creating a Pilot Pathway profile does not guarantee: employment; an interview; contact from a recruiter or airline; shortlisting; selection; an employment offer; a salary; promotion; visa sponsorship; licence acceptance; medical acceptance; or work authorisation.

All recruitment, selection, interviewing and employment decisions are made by the relevant employer or recruiter. Pilot Pathway is not responsible for employment decisions made by third parties.

6. Member Accounts

Members must provide information that is accurate, current and not materially misleading. Members must not:

  • impersonate another person
  • create fraudulent profiles
  • submit false qualifications
  • falsify flight hours
  • falsify licences or ratings
  • falsify employment history
  • upload fraudulent documents
  • deliberately provide materially misleading information
  • use another person's account
  • attempt to circumvent Platform security

Members should update their information when it becomes materially inaccurate. Pilot Pathway may restrict, suspend or terminate accounts where there are reasonable grounds to believe information is fraudulent, materially misleading or otherwise violates these Terms.

7. Information Provided by Members

Depending on Platform functionality, Members may provide information including: professional name; photograph; professional headline; country; general location; nationality; gender; date of birth; current position; current employer; current base; preferred career path; professional biography; professional email address; WhatsApp or mobile number; training-bond information; licences; ratings; aircraft experience; career history; medical certification category; and aviation documents.

The exact fields available may change as Pilot Pathway develops. Members are responsible for ensuring information is accurate and appropriate for the purpose supplied.

8. Medical Information

Pilot Pathway may provide a limited professional medical-certification field. Available categories may include: Class 1; Class 2; Student Medical; Not Specified. Members should not enter detailed medical information into their public professional profile, including diagnoses, medical conditions, medication information, detailed medical history, treatment information, clinical notes or medical reports.

Where medical or health information is uploaded as a private document, it will be treated in accordance with applicable privacy and security requirements.

9. Private Documents

Documents uploaded to a Member's private document area are private by default. Private documents are not automatically made available to recruiters merely because a Member uploaded the document, created a profile, or enabled recruiter visibility. Ordinary recruiter-profile visibility controls do not automatically grant recruiters access to private documents. Any future document-sharing feature will provide an appropriate mechanism for the Member to control or authorise disclosure.

10. Recruiter Visibility

Pilot Pathway is designed to give Members control over information displayed to authorised recruiters. Where the functionality is available, Members may: make their professional profile discoverable; hide their professional profile; control individual profile fields; review their recruiter-facing profile; and change visibility settings.

When recruiter visibility is turned off, the Member's profile should not ordinarily appear in recruiter searches. Technical caching or information lawfully obtained by a third party before a profile was hidden may not be capable of immediate removal from that third party's systems.

11. Recruiter Discovery and Contact

Where a Member has enabled professional-profile visibility, authorised employers and recruiters may search or filter profiles using permitted professional criteria. A visible profile may be discovered even where the Member has not submitted an application for a particular vacancy.

By enabling recruiter visibility, the Member acknowledges that: their profile may appear in recruiter searches; authorised recruiters may contact them; contact may relate to current or future opportunities; contact does not constitute an employment offer; and Pilot Pathway does not control communications sent by third parties.

Members should only make contact information visible where they are comfortable being contacted for legitimate professional purposes.

12. Recruiter Conduct

Recruiters and employers must use Member information only for legitimate professional, recruitment, employment or talent-acquisition purposes. Recruiters must not:

  • sell Member information
  • rent Member information
  • scrape the Platform
  • create unauthorised databases
  • redistribute Member information
  • use Member information for unrelated advertising
  • spam Members
  • harass Members
  • impersonate airlines or other organisations
  • create fraudulent vacancies
  • misrepresent employment opportunities
  • unlawfully discriminate
  • circumvent Platform security
  • use automated extraction without permission
  • provide Member information to unauthorised third parties

Pilot Pathway may suspend or terminate recruiter access where these requirements are breached.

13. Recruiter Verification

Pilot Pathway may conduct reasonable vetting before providing an employer, recruiter or other aviation organisation with access to Member discovery functionality. Vetting may include consideration of organisation identity, registration information, business website, business contact information, authorised representative, intended recruitment activities, privacy and security practices, and acceptance of applicable Platform terms. Verification does not constitute a guarantee that a recruiter, employer or organisation will remain suitable after approval.

14. Accuracy and Verification of Pilot Information

Pilot Pathway generally relies on information supplied by Members unless a specific verification service is expressly provided. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Pilot Pathway does not independently guarantee or verify licences, ratings, flight hours, employment history, aircraft experience, medical certification, training history or qualifications. Employers and recruiters remain responsible for conducting their own appropriate verification before making employment decisions. Members may report suspected fraudulent or misleading information.

15. Reporting Fraudulent Information

Members and recruiters may report suspected fraudulent profiles, false licences, false ratings, false flight hours, false employment information, fraudulent documents, impersonation, inappropriate conduct or other material misconduct. Pilot Pathway may investigate reports and may temporarily restrict an account where reasonably necessary. A report does not automatically establish that a Member or recruiter has acted improperly. Pilot Pathway may request supporting information before taking permanent action.

16. Account Hiding and Deletion

Members may hide their professional profile using the available Platform controls and may request or initiate account deletion. Where deletion is technically possible and legally appropriate, Pilot Pathway will remove Personal Information from active systems. Certain information may remain temporarily in secure backups, legal records, audit records or security logs where retention is required or reasonably necessary. Information retained in backups remains subject to appropriate safeguards and should be removed through the applicable backup lifecycle.

17. Member Content

Members retain the rights they already hold in content they upload. By uploading content, Members grant Pilot Pathway a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, display, process and communicate that content only to the extent reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, provide professional networking services, provide career functionality, maintain professional profiles, provide technical services, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations. This licence does not transfer ownership of the Member's professional identity or underlying intellectual-property rights to Pilot Pathway.

18. Intellectual Property

Pilot Pathway and/or its licensors own or control the rights associated with the Platform, including where applicable software, databases, user interfaces, branding, logos, design, text, systems, matching and filtering technology, and Platform architecture. Users may not copy, reproduce, scrape, reverse engineer, modify or commercially exploit the Platform except where permitted by law or expressly authorised by Pilot Pathway.

19. Platform Availability

Pilot Pathway does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. The Platform may be affected by maintenance, software updates, hosting outages, telecommunications failures, cybersecurity incidents, third-party services, technical faults or force majeure events. Pilot Pathway may modify, suspend or discontinue functionality where reasonably necessary.

20. Third-Party Services

Pilot Pathway may use third-party providers for services including hosting, databases, analytics, authentication, security, email, storage, communications and monitoring. Such providers may process Personal Information on behalf of Pilot Pathway where necessary to provide the relevant services. Pilot Pathway will take reasonable steps to manage third-party processing in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.

21. Direct Marketing

Pilot Pathway does not currently use professional-profile visibility as consent for unrelated direct marketing and does not currently operate an ordinary electronic direct-marketing programme through the professional networking service. If direct marketing is introduced in the future, appropriate privacy disclosures, lawful-processing requirements and consent or opt-out mechanisms will be implemented where required.

22. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pilot Pathway does not guarantee the accuracy of Member information, the accuracy of recruiter information, the suitability of an employer, the availability of a vacancy, employment outcomes, third-party communications, licence acceptance, visa approval, work authorisation, medical approval, or recruitment outcomes. Users are responsible for independently evaluating information and opportunities provided by third parties.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Pilot Pathway will not be liable for indirect, consequential or special losses arising from or relating to use of the Platform. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or removes any mandatory statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

24. Suspension and Termination

Pilot Pathway may suspend, restrict or terminate an account where reasonably necessary to protect Members or recruiters, investigate suspected fraud or security incidents, prevent abuse, comply with law, enforce these Terms, or protect the Platform. Where appropriate, Pilot Pathway may provide the affected user with information concerning the reason for the restriction.

25. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

26. Complaints and Disputes

Users should first contact Pilot Pathway regarding complaints relating to the Platform. Nothing in these Terms prevents a person from exercising a statutory right to approach the Information Regulator, a competent tribunal, a court, or another competent authority.

27. Changes to These Terms

Pilot Pathway may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, appropriate notice will be provided through the Platform or another reasonable communication mechanism. The current version and effective date will be displayed on the Platform.
